Fly into Bar Harbor Airport (BHB)
Bar Harbor Hancock County Airport (BHB) is the closest commercial airport, served by Cape Air and others with connections through Boston. It's small, friendly, and a welcome break from the chaos of larger hubs.
Alternatively, Bangor International Airport (BGR) is about 50 miles away and has more flight options.
Get to Northeast Harbor
From Bar Harbor, head to Northeast Harbor — about 20 minutes by car. This is where you'll catch your ferry to the island. There's no direct public transit, so plan on renting a car, taking a taxi, or coordinating with other guests.
If you're staying at the Kimball Terrace Inn, you're already right next to the ferry dock!
Park in Northeast Harbor
Leave your car in Northeast Harbor — that's where it lives for the day. Parking is available and you can pay by the day at a self-serve kiosk near the ferry landing.
Questions about parking? Call the Northeast Harbor Police Department at (207) 276-5111 and they'll sort you out.
Take the Beal & Bunker Ferry
Board the Beal & Bunker mail boat ferry from Northeast Harbor to Great Cranberry Island. It's a short, scenic ride across the water with views of Mount Desert Island that will set the mood perfectly.
We recommend buying tickets in advance so you're not scrambling the morning of the wedding. That said, it's also easy to purchase on the boat itself if you prefer.
Buy one-way tickets only. We're chartering a private boat to bring everyone back to the mainland at the end of the night — so you only need a ticket to get to the island.
